Residents

Our residents are young adults - five women and one man who attend various adult centres during the day. They maintain contact with their families and all have their own distinctive personalities and interests.

Recreation

Participation in recreation and leisure activities are important issues for HSH residents. Outings can be individualised with one resident and a nominated outreach worker, small groups with residential care staff, or full group.

An annual camp is held at varying venues while in-house activities range from indoor craft to outdoor excursions in the local and wider communities. Music therapy sessions are held fortnightly for all residents and some residents have opted for additional individual music lessons as part of their plan.

Helen Schutt

Helen Macpherson Schutt died in 1951 at the age of 77. At the time of her death, her estate in Victoria totalled nearly $700,000. It was her wish that the residuary estate should benefit charities in Victoria where her wealth originated through the efforts of her grandfather and father. Hence the Helen M Schutt Trust came into being. Since 1972, The Helen M Schutt Trust has distributed over $22 million to charities in Victoria.
