1. Who owns Helen Schutt House?
Helen Schutt House Association Incorporated owns the property in Aspendale known as Helen Schutt House.

2. Who manages Helen Schutt House?
A voluntary committee of management and a part -time executive officer are responsible for the governance and management of the Association.

3. Why the name?
In 1981 the Helen M Schutt Trust provided funds for the purchase of the house. The name "Helen Schutt House" is in recognition of this benefactor. The Helen M Schutt Trust supports many different activities. There is no connection between us and any other service that may have a similar name.

4. Are there any vacancies at the house?
There are no current vacancies at the house. The Department of Human Services (DHS) has established a Vacancy Co-ordination Process for filling vacancies as they arise. It maintains an Urgent Service Needs Register. A short list of possible clients is compiled against the service provider's Vacancy Profile. A selection process follows with negotiation between the service provider and DHS provider management.

 

 
 

5. What does it cost to join the Association?
There is a joining fee and an annual membership fee. This fee is determined annually at the AGM, which is usually the 2nd Thursday in September.

6. How can I support your work?
Donations of $2.00 and over to HSH Assoc Inc are tax deductible and are very welcome. These enable recreation programs for residents and allow house maintenance and improvements.

7. How often is your newsletter published?
Our newsletter is published quarterly. Email us at hshassoc@netspace.net.au if you would like to be placed on the mailing list.

8. Where can I find out about short-term placements?
In the Southern Metropolitan Region there are various support programs including in home accommodation support. Ring the DHS Southern Metropolitan Region on Tel 9213 2111 for information.
